General

Habonim’s cryogenic valves are subject to the general Habonim valves design, materials, practices, methodologies, and certifications – for more information, see the Valves General chapter in Habonim catalog.

All Habonim cryogenic valves are equipped with the Total HermetiX Integrity Package for superior sealing, safety, and environmental care.

Special mechanical design and construction

• Solid one-piece high torque durable stem.
• Tight stem-to-ball directional engagement ensures relief hole alignment.
• Strict materials and manufacturing tolerances control.

No-Trap Cavity

Each cryogenic valve is equipped with a mechanism that prevents pressure buildup in the valve cavity, eliminating the risk that liquefied-gas evaporation will over – pressure the valve body by releasing over-pressured media from the cavity area back to the line.

Habonim uses a variety of such mechanisms:

• Relief hole on the upstream sphere of the ball to prevent pressure buildup in the cavity
• Spring loaded seat construction with piston effect for cavity pressure relief
• Single seat active seal construction – no closed cavity

Minimal Thermal Expansion

Using one-size-up and double the amount of body bolts reduces linear thermal expansion
and dramatically decreases the likelihood of leakage to the atmosphere.

Efficient Heat Transfer

The Habonim standard bonnet length design complies with BS6364 for non-cold box applications. The long neck bonnet insulates the stem seal from the low temperatures of cryogenic fluids, thus enabling safe and long-lasting seal service. A small gap between the bonnet ID and the stem OD, ensures a thick layer between the media and the stem seal.

Inclination Limitation

The Habonim bonnet design comes in two optional versions. Both are designed to prevent cryogenic liquids from reaching the stem seal. Habonim recommends installation in the vertical position but allows installation at an angle.
The 12″ bonnet can be installed up to 45° from the vertical axis to maintain fully BS6364 compliant.
The 6″ bonnet can be installed up to 15° from the vertical axis (not BS6364 compliant).
Double isolation / double block and bleed designs available upon request

Cleaning, Assembling and Packing

Cryogenic Service

A meticulous cleaning and assembly procedure eliminate the ignition hazards that can be caused by the presence of hydrocarbon oil, grease, and metal chips. Habonim uses an environment friendly, alkaline-based degreasing process with controlled parameters. Valves are assembled in a controlled area by personnel who are specially equipped and trained to perform this task. The assembling area, work surfaces, equipment and tools are specially maintained to ensure cleanliness requirements are met.
• Valves are cleaned and degreased for oxygen service
• Valves ends are capped, valves are plastic bagged
• A sticker on the plastic bag indicating “cryogenic use”

The COMPACT actuator is a quarter-turn rack & pinion pneumatic actuator that doubles the torque and cut by half the piston travel of standard pneumatic actuators.
The superior performance is achieved by Habonim’s patented four piston design, which generates torque around a centrally located piston, this translates into:
                  • Double the power for the same size actuator or Half the size for the same amount of power
                  • Much faster opening and closing time.
A full range of Mounting Kits is available, allowing optimized mounting and use of the COMPACT actuator for valve automation with Habonim’s valves and simple integration with valves that have a standard ISO-plate mounting interface.
Valve Automation Packages is offered based on Habonim’s standard and costume made valves and actuators or as costume made packages with valves, actuators and top-works per customer requests.

High Pressure Cryogenic Class 2500, full differential pressure for sizes up to and including 2″ (DN50), differential pressure of up to 103 bar (1494 psi) for sizes 2½” (DN65) and above with hybrid seats.

Pressure containing parts are in compliance with ASME B16.34, for wall thickness, design type-tested for burst testing of four times the pressure rating for 5 minutes. A one-size-up stem made of high tensile material complies with ASME B16.34 and API 6D for drive train requirements provides a sufficient safety factor during operation. A special hybrid seat design is comprised of a metal housing and polymer insert machined as a single unit provides bubble tight shut-off (Rate A), combined with lower operating torque.
